This is a first post in a series of posts, which would describe the basics of origami. Many origami models use a set of very common patterns, and their variations, and I think it is very important that you would be familiar with some of the most popular and simple ones. Follow these step by step origami instructions below to make the bird base. ...and a second one. Now turn the paper to the other side... ...and fold it twice like so. Bring the corners together. You should have something like this by now. This is called a square base, and it is so simple to make it that it does not really deserves a separate post with instructions on how to fold it, in my opinion. And same on the left. Fold the top like so. And unfold three last steps. Take the corner and bring it to the top. To get this. You would have to reverse some folds while you do that, since they are pointing backwards. It's ok. Now turn the model to its other side. And repeat the process. Here you go! You have just folded your first bird base! If it's not your first, then why would you need instructions to do it? ;) Today I found great instructions on folding a simple Origami Dragon! Here is a direct link to a video for download, and even to pdf document with instructions! Well, actually here are origami wyverns, but they are somewhat related to dragons anyway 8) No origami dragons here unfortunately, but I liked the video. It shows how simple and how complex an origami could be with a Japanese feel. Origami Dragon blog's goal is to become a comprehensive resource about origami and origami dragon in particular. Welcome! I will collect here all the information I can find about folding origami dragons and even more! or as complex as this guy: For complete beginners in origami I will suggest to start from the most basic models like the crane. Here is a video tutorial on how to make one: Hint: with a couple of basic adjustments you can turn an origami crane into origami dragon :) There are much tutorials, guides and instructions for folding various origami models, but much are either blurry (in case of videos) or very confusing and aimed at someone who already has experience with origami. I will make sure that all content that is being posted here is as clear as it could be. Stuff for advanced users will be marked as such. You can always return to such content when you get some experience 8) |
